About me.

Born in Texas, I grew up in a military family and had the opportunity to live in London, Paris and Washington, DC.  I graduated from Agnes Scott College, Decatur Georgia, and taught French and worked in the administration of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (North Carolina) for 32 years.  Chad and I met in Paris while I was studying at the Sorbonne and he was stationed at SHAPE Headquarters in the US Army.  We have 3 children and 7 grandchildren.

For 45 years my husband and I owned a “sideline business”, TimeSaverDials, where we restored antique clock dials for customers in many states and several foreign countries.  In addition to restoration techniques and technical drawing, I had the opportunity to create original dial designs for personal handcrafted grandfather clocks. In addition to this type of art form, I have always been involved in other art projects ranging from murals for children; painting on long skirts; teaching art to adults and children; painting birds on wood; creating artistic scrapbooks and altered books, I always return to oils on canvas.  I am mostly self-taught although I did study palette knife painting in Germany and oil techniques in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I was one of the 7 original artists who formed the Charlotte Art League over 40 years ago and took part in Charlotte’s Art in the Park. In recent years, I have participated in Christmasville in Rock Hill, SC and given demonstrations in schools, retirement homes, craft shows. I have had several one-woman shows with paintings hanging in 9 states and 3 countries.
