7x11 Oil on Light Walnut - The belted kingfisher is a large, top heavy, conspicuous water kingfisher, who seems to have an air of self-importance as he patrols up and down rivers and shorelines. This is one of the few birds in which the female is more brightly colored than the male. It is featured on the 1986 series Canadian $5 note.
